A Little About Us
In 2002, while residing in Truro, we opened Haylee's House, a small in home business where dogs stayed with us in our home overnight and for daycare. It became quite popular and our house became, well, too small! So after deciding to move we chose to leave Truro and return to our roots here in the annapolis valley. In 2004 Mountain Dog Lodge opened it's doors. We decided to expand on the In Home Boarding service and after much research we finished our plan for The Lodge. We are proud to provide 3 different types of boarding, In Home Boarding (your dog has the run of our house), Suite Boarding (the like-home rooms in the Lodge) and Luxury Room Boarding (our HUGE special room in the Lodge).
Many people consider their dogs as their children and do not like the idea of leaving their 'kids' cooped up in a cage for whatever period of time, let alone the entire length of their stay away! Others had dogs who simply did not fare well in cage kennels, either they would not eat, or become severly stressed from a lack of interaction with people, or, say for an ex SPCA dog, it would simply 'bring back bad memories' of their stay in kennels.
Suzanne, the main caretaker, has studied extensively in the dog behaviour field, and has received certification in Dog Behaviour Theory, Animal Welfare, Canine Nutrition, and Canine Massage Therapy.
We are now located in West Brooklyn NS, in the beautiful Annapolis Valley. We are very easy to find, only 2 minutes (approximately 2 - 2.5 km) from HWY 101; ten minutes from Wolfville, fifteen minutes from Windsor, and approximately 45 minutes from Halifax.
We have been animal lovers all our lives, and we are grateful that we are able to provide this service, and meet other people who love their dogs as much as we do.
