LATE DROP OFFS/PICK UPS
Please make an effot to keep your scheduled drop off pick up appointment. We are a multi service facility which means our days are scheduled full with daycare/boarding drop offs & pick ups, grooming appointments, walks, etc from open until close. It is very important that you arrive on time - if you are running late please call to inform us.
We will always try to accomodate you, but this is not always possible.
PRIVACY POLICY
We know that you care how information about you is used and shared, and we appreciate your trust that we will do so carefully and sensibly. By visiting Mountain Dog Lodge's website, you are accepting the practices described in our Privacy Notice.
We do not collect information on our customers unless they specifically request to be notified of upcoming sales or events through our mailing list. We do not sell or share these mailings lists with any outside party.
Under no circumstances will we share customer shopping and buying information or patterns with any third party or any person or company outside of Mountain Dog Lodge. We do not use cookies, instruments used to collect certain information about users, and no customer navigational information is collected.
RULES OF THE HOUSE
Every business must have rules in order to operate efficiently, so here they are:
- All dogs MUST be under control & on leash at all times - this means in the lodge AS WELL as outside.
- Do Not approach the fence. This excites and/or startles the dogs who are in the play areas.
- If your dog pees on something in the retail store, YOU BUY IT.
- If your dog destroys something during his/her stay (scratch walls/doors, chew bedding, walls, doorknobs, etc.), you must pay for the damage.
- Our hours are what they are, drop offs & picks ups must be done within those times, Though we live for the dogs, we also do have a life! ;)
- If you are going to be late, please call us so we can be ready and have everything in order for your arrival. (ie if you say you will pick up "Fido" at 1pm, but something has comeup and you won't arrive until 5pm - please call to let us know of your delay.)
- We have a 24 hour cancellation policy - if you simply do not show up without letting us know before hand you will be charged at least one day of boarding.
POLICIES
For those who vaccinate their dogs, a COPY of their record of current vaccinations will be required for our files. Necessary vaccinations are : Rabies, Distemper, and Parvovirus. We only require Bordetella, Corona virus & Leptospirosis vaccinations IF they are endemic in the local area (which they are currently not). After we have received the record the first time, we only require to see a new record every three years afterwards.
*NOTE*
Some dogs show minor to severe reactions to yearly vaccines causing them to not be able to receive yearly vaccinations. Also, with new studies, it is shown that certain dogs should never be vaccinated (Great Danes, Akitas etc.), and that all others need only be vaccinated a maximum of three times in their LIFETIME (puppy shots - only Distemper & Parvo, 24 weeks or older - killed rabies vaccine, 1 year - MLV Distemper/Parvo only booster, 1 year - killed 3 year rabies vaccine given 3-4 weeks from Distemper/Parvo booster). Because of this we will permit unvaccinated dogs to attend Mountain Dog Lodge. The parent will have to sign a waver indicating they have an unvaccinated dog and they understand the possible risk involved to their dog (very low risk, possibly lower risk than a yearly vaccinated dog).
Those following the new vaccination schedule will be required to provide a copy of their yearly titer test (this shows the dog's immunity levels to mentioned viruses) - as well as a detailed description of what their dog is eating (raw fed, homecooked, human grade kibble, vitamins & supplements, etc.)
Nothing combats viruses & pests better than a healthy dog (which means the new vaccination schedule combined with raw, homecooked and/or human grade kibble, vitamins, supplements, and exercise).
You will not find human grade kibble at the grocery store - one exception may be Holistic Blend, a very good dog kibble sometimes found at Superstores in the health food section.
Pedigree, Purina, Iams, Kibbles N' Bits, No Name, Our Compliments, etc. - all dog foods in the pet food aisle are feed grade = bad food nutritionally which can leave your dog more succeptible to viruses, fleas, allergies (ear infections, itching, etc).
Human grade food is more expensive, but the amount of money you will save in the long run from flea treatments & vet bills makes it that much more worthwhile - and for your dog's health too!
If you wish to e-mail me to discuss these subjects further Please Do! You can reach me at suz@mountaindoglodge.com I do know a good amount regarding these subjects from personal experience with my own dogs - I can supply you with many good references for you to read (also available printed out at the lodge). If it so happens that what you are questioning, I do not know the answer to, I have the contact information of a very good canine nutritionalist who would be very happy to help.
We would prefer attending puppies over the age of six months be neutered or spayed, but unaltered dogs are still welcome. We only require that you inform us if your dog is still intact so we can assure no 'accidents' occur!
Females WHO ARE IN HEAT cannot attend the Lodge.
*We Reserve The Right To Refuse Any Aggressive Dog*
(this includes dogs who guard toys/food bowls from humans, dogs who are aggressive towards people (and vicious & uncontrolable towards other dogs).
This includes fear aggressive dogs as well (dogs who will bite out of fear, who will not allow themselves to be handled without growling and/or biting.)
We have NO BREED BANS/DISCRIMINATIONS here.
We believe that dogs reflect what their parents teach them, and loved, well raised dogs, no matter what their breed, grow to become exceptional beings. However, as mentioned above, we do reserve the right to refuse ANY aggressive dog, whether the dog be a Yorkie, Pitbull, Cocker Spaniel, or Doberman.
In addition to this, any 'pittie' breeds (American Pitbull Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier) will enjoy mostly one on one play with staff. Pitties are exceptional animals, so loving with people, they can, however, play too roughly with other dogs (which could "trigger" their dog fighting instincts), especially in larger dog groups, which is why we will limit pittie play time to staff, or with their siblings if they have some.
